The Rashid S. Conteh Memorial Foundation is delighted to share updates on the construction of the Rashid S. Conteh Memorial Hospital in Lungi, Sierra Leone. Thanks to a dedicated construction grant from our organization, this vital community hospital project is making consistent progress. Although our nonprofit neither owns nor will operate the hospital, we are proud to contribute to its development and collaborate in enhancing access to quality healthcare for the residents of Lungi and nearby areas.
Each week brings us closer to realizing the vision of an accessible healthcare facility for the Lungi community. We are pleased to report the following milestones:
All exterior doors have been installed. This important step secures the structure and protects the interior as finishing work continues.
All interior door frames are now in place. The hospital’s layout is clearly defined, bringing us closer to fully functional patient rooms and treatment areas.
Plastering from the ground floor to the second floor has been completed. Finished walls mark a major interior milestone and prepare the building for painting and final finishes.
Installation of the PVC ceiling tiles is currently in progress. As this phase advances, the interior is beginning to look and feel like a true healthcare facility ready to serve the Lungi community.
Every milestone reflects the power of community partnership—local workers, supporters, donors, and friends near and far who believe in strengthening healthcare access in Lungi. We are deeply grateful to our partners, donors, and local teams whose commitment makes this work possible.
The momentum is strong, and we look forward to sharing more updates as we move closer to completion. Together, we are building more than a hospital—we are building a legacy of care.
