Almost Ready: A Major Milestone for the Rashid S. Conteh Memorial Community Hospital
Finishing touches are underway in Lungi as a shipment of hospital equipment and supplies approaches Freetown.
We are excited to share a new look at the almost completed Evans Medical Center’s Rashid S. Conteh Memorial Community Hospital in Lungi, Sierra Leone. With each finishing detail, this long-held vision is becoming a place prepared to welcome patients and strengthen access to healthcare for the surrounding community.

Preparing for the Next Step
Teams at the hospital are completing final work so that rooms will be ready for the equipment and supplies now in transit. The shipment is expected to arrive at the port in Freetown within the next week. Once the container is cleared and transported to Lungi, its contents can be moved directly into their respective rooms.
Careful preparation now will help make the move-in process organized and efficient. It will also mark an important transition: from completing the hospital building to equipping the spaces where care will be delivered.
Patient rooms, bathrooms, and corridors are almost finished and are waiting for equipment.
Building a Legacy of Care
The Rashid S. Conteh Memorial Foundation was established to advance healthcare initiatives in Sierra Leone in memory of Rashid. This hospital project at the Evans Medical Center reflects that mission and the compassion that continues to inspire our work.
Although our foundation does not own or operate the hospital, we are honored to support its development in partnership with the Evans Medical Center. When completed and equipped, the facility is planned as a 30-bed rural hospital serving Lungi and nearby communities.

Thank You for Helping Us Reach This Milestone
This progress has been made possible by the generosity of our donors, the dedication of local workers and project teams, and the commitment of everyone who believes that quality healthcare should be more accessible. We are deeply grateful to each person who has supported this journey.
We look forward to sharing the arrival of the container and the next stage of preparing the hospital for service. Please continue to follow our updates, share our mission, and support the healthcare initiatives of the Rashid S. Conteh Memorial Foundation.
Together, we are building more than a hospital—we are building a lasting legacy of care.
