The Container Has Arrived!

A long-awaited shipment of medical equipment and supplies has finally arrived at Evans Medical Center in Lungi, Sierra Leone!
The container reached the Port of Freetown on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Because the equipment and supplies were donated for charitable purposes to a Community Based Organization, Evans Medical Center, approvals from three different government agencies were required before the container could be cleared duty-free.
After clearing customs, the container arrived at its final destination in Lungi on September 29, 2026—exactly four years after Rashid’s death. We had originally hoped the container would arrive in Sierra Leone by the end of July, so its arrival on this particular day was an especially meaningful and emotional milestone for us.
On September 30, Dr. Sesay arranged assistance from the airport authority, including the use of their crane, to unload the container and place it on the concrete slab that had been prepared for it.
The additional time also allowed the contractors to complete the ground and second floors of the hospital. These two floors are now ready for the medical equipment to be installed. (See pictures below.)
Volunteers from the TriMedX Foundation are making plans to travel to Sierra Leone in mid-October. They will help install the equipment, ensure that everything is functioning properly, and perform any necessary maintenance to prepare the equipment for use.
We are incredibly excited to see this equipment finally arrive. Soon, the empty rooms of the hospital will begin to take on new life as they are filled with the equipment needed to transform this building into a fully functioning rural hospital serving the people of Lungi and surrounding communities.
Thank You! This milestone would not have been possible without the generosity and support of so many people.
First and foremost, thank you to our donors. Your contributions have made the construction of the hospital and the shipment of medical equipment and supplies possible.
We are also deeply grateful to the TriMedX Foundation and Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach for donating the medical equipment and helping coordinate its shipment to Evans Medical Center. The Rashid S. Conteh Memorial Community Hospital is the recipient of these donations.
This is an exciting new chapter in the journey to bring the hospital to life, and we can’t wait to share what comes next.
More updates will be coming soon as the equipment is installed!
